It has been a little while since I laid out my Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt blocks. Admittedly I haven't made many more, it's one of those projects I'm doing in between other things. But this is a fun way to see how it is growing.
This isn't the final layout, though they will be set on point. I'm pleased with it so far. It definitely needs more Liberty fabric and I think I might take that Daffodil block out, or add in more splashes of green? What do you think?
My most recent finished block is #25 Crystal, with my one of my favourite Liberty prints Forget Me Nots:
All the blocks were sewn by hand, either English Paper Piecing or hand piecing but I am planning on machine sewing them together. There are too many other hand sewn projects I want to make!
It's nice to stop and look at my progress.
If you're shopping for fabric this weekend don't miss out on the awesome sale on sale fabrics at Bobbi Lou's - with loads of gorgeous modern prints, including Art Gallery Fabrics, Tula Pink, Sarah Jane and more! Valid through Sunday 24th September.
Wishing you all a very happy weekend! It's a teaching day for me tomorrow and then I'm looking forward to the #saturdaynightcraftalong over on Instagram. I enjoy seeing what you're all making almost as much as I enjoy sewing (and that's a lot)!
linking up to finish it up friday at crazy mom quilts

The daffodil block looks all wrong to me Lucy if I'm honest. I think it's probably not symmetrical enough. Otherwise looking good!
I agree with Catherine. It appears to be the only one that’s not symmetrical. Maybe move it to the side away from the one above that has stems in the same colour. Thank you for sharing Lucy.
looking at the blocks overall, yes I would take out the daffodil block. Not particularly because of the colour but the shape. Great quilt though.
Lovely quilt Lucy. I really like the Daffodil block. I would move it over to the side though. More green would look great. At home not well just enjoying watching you make the Ripple quilt. : )
Seems I'm the odd one out... I like the daffodil. Or at least, don't find it offensive in any way. I vote leave it in! Or perhaps put it on the back as your label??

Thank you Linda! I think I will make a couple more blocks and then decide :) I hope you are feeling better! Xx
Thanks Helen! Yes I agree it's the shape! Once I've got my final layout I might try it again and see how it looks!
Thanks Anne! I agree, this isn't my final layout so once I've got that sorted I will make a decision :)
Agreed! It didn't stand out so much in real life but it's definitely bugging me now!
