There are big changes going on for me. Making adjustments, working hard and figuring out what comes next. You know... life stuff!
So today I took it easy. I did some yoga, had coffee with a friend and actually did some machine sewing.
I made the first two blocks of the Land of Magic Quilt. It is a gorgeous foundation paper piecing pattern (click the link to see Kerry's finished quilt), you can buy the full pattern or individual blocks if you prefer - the crown and star come as a pair.
My sister is pregnant and this quilt will be for my new niece or nephew. We chose the fabrics together and it was a lot of fun! I actually changed my mind about the main print for the crown and I think this blue print works really well, almost like it is shining. The star uses mainly Carrie Bloomston prints and I love how the navy print looks like twinkling stars.
My youngest star has started school and is really enjoying herself! Our last few afternoons (before she went full time) were spent doing all the wonderful things we enjoy doing together. Painting - usually I do the outline and she fills it in:
I am still getting used to not having her with me all day. I'm not sure how I feel really. Currently I am too busy to actually think about it, which is good on the one hand but I'm starting to need time to 'process' because it is a big change. There is some sadness for me but I am thankful that she likes school and is making friends. I guess I just keep on keeping on :)

Oh my Lucy, I have been adulting, lifing, parenting so hard lately too! Ugh, you are smart to take a day for you. I think it's just what I need too! Congrats on being an Auntie :)
Good to see you taking some time for yourself. My eldest has just gone to university - it is a very odd feeling having only 3 of us at home.
You will process the change gradually Lucy - as you go about your busy-ness, in those between-activity times. It is the start of a new chapter - of coming together at the school gates and sharing. Some of my best memories of my daughter are of her and I walking to and from school and chatting about everything. Maybe treat yourself to something nice (afternoon tea), as a reward for being a wonderful mum.
I'm guessing you are at a new and exciting time in your life Lucy! Try to relax and enjoy what comes along! And having some 'me time' is vital to the process!
You have been dreading this time for some while now so it has probably built up in your mind. Now it has finally arrived you will just find your life has changed but not necessarily for the worse. You have more freedom for yourself and can do what you want to do. Hey ho, more time for cleaning! I never thought I would cope when my boy went to school but I would like those days back again. Life was simple but busy.
That quilt is going to be gorgeous! I'm pleased L is settling in, but it must be very strange for you xx

Glad the wee one has taken to school, just look on it as another stage to treasure Lucy. I am very aware that this time next year our wee GD will be at school and our time together far less than we have now, trying to savour it.xx
Yes, there is sadness as the last one goes off to school, and faces that big bad world, but it would be even sadder if they never did... Enjoy them while you can, and help them be let go, when the time is right. You will adjust, as you did with the other two... Hugs!
Take it easy with the life changes . Enjoy the space if time for yourself . - and fir yourself , not ironing and hoovering . It's a big step when the youngest goes to school, though I found the big school step the harder .
