I have been collecting selvedges (the edge strip of fabric that has the designer/manufacturer info on it) for a while, with the plan to one day do something with them... what that is I still don't know. Any suggestions welcome!
I store them in this coca cola tin, which is very hard to close so I will need to find something bigger to keep them in unless I use them soon.
Selvedges can be so fun, I love ones with little pictures and nice text on.
So I will keep on collecting them until I decide what to do with them!
I've used mine in various projects, notebook covers, lampshade, fabric bucket, but I still have a bag full of them (and keep adding to it). It would be wrong to throw them away, they are a special sort of scrap! Looking forward to seeing what you are inspired to do!
Quilts of a Feather blog - http://www.quiltsofafeather.com/2015/07/selvage-along-link-up-selvages.html - is having a 'Selvage Along' until September and there will be lots of tutorials posted on projects to use up your selvedges. I am an avid collector of selvedges and have linked by blog Between Stitches as I will be sharing my quilts/wallhangings along the way.
Hi Lucy! You have really cute selvages! I'm happy that Jess made this 'selvage along' even I don't have time to sew now anything. I try to post soon about my selvages and little projects I have already made. Can't wait to see new ideas for these treasure-pieces. x Teje
I like memmens description above of selvages as a "special sort of scrap." Haven't done much with mine yet but have a Pinterest board with lots of ideas. Get that bigger box and inspiration will eventually strike! :-)
A 'selvedge along' is just starting over at Quilty Habit. I have a bulging container of selvedges too, so I'm interested to see the projects suggested for using selvedges in the Selvedge Along.
You are about to bust that box!! LOL You better find a good project soon. I like that idea of a Selvage Along that Jeneta has mentioned. Let's go check it out.
No matter how many of my selvedges I use my collection never gets smaller, I wonder how that happens?!!! I make fabric with them and matchstick quilt it then use it as I would normal fabric, it's so strong and particularly great for pouches and bags. Love your tin Lucy - Chris :D

I'll leave that project to you Lucy! I don't need another list of projects on my 'one day' list! Look forward to seeing what you decide to make!

What a cute box to store them in! And it has a way of telling you when it's time to make something, haha. LOVE the ladybug selvage!
