Maybe it's the summer ending or the fact that it was actually warm and sunny today but I've developed a sudden crush on all things pastel. Evident in the fact that I'm going to be quilting a small English Paper Pieced project and, rather than pick the dark navy or black I was originally intending, I've pulled some pretty pastel shades of perle:
There's lots of lovely bright colours in the Cotton and Steel lines (available here and here) but there's also some soft and beautiful pastels so I'm hoping these are going to play nicely together.
Pastels often feature in 30's repro fabrics, which I'm a huge fan of, and I am joining in the fabric swap hosted by Missouri Mel. You can see all the details and join in the swap here (if there's still any places left!).
I've noticed my follower numbers have been creeping up so I think a thank you giveaway (international) will be in order when it's a nice round number and I've got a really great giveaway coming up (just for UK and Ireland) peeps very soon too!

hi Lucy, have been meaning to ask you, what are the lovely perles you use for hand quilting?
ooh yes I love 30's fabrics they are my favourite.
It's funny how our tastes change and your pretty pastels sound like either a nod to the Indian summer you are having or a rebellion against the nights drawing in!
I love selection of pretty colours. They'll look beautiful with the gorgeous piecing you've done.
I'm a pastel girl so that is a perfect wee pile of perle to me!
OMG, wait until you see the dark fabrics (Juggling Summer Zen Chic) I've chosen for the Japanese +x quilt class. You're going to hate them! I've added some plain Kona in putty- roll on the grunge!
Love the pretty pastel shades!
pretty! I love how we can sew according to our mood, or sometimes to help change our mood :-)
I love 30s fabrics! And Mel's swap is really good. Loving those Perle too I must add some to my collection
I have times when I like different colours and fabrics too. x
Those thread choices will look fabulous with your Cotton & Steel project! Looking forward to seeing you work your magic Lucy! (Don't hassle with a giveaway, just send it to me- it will be loved, whatever it is!)
I do like the look of those threads on there. Pretty ; )
I tend to go for rich dark colours and then I'll suddenly decide I'm all about the pale. I love the picture and the perle you've chosen!
Pastel mood seems fine to me ;)
Pretty colours :o)
Love! The Cotton & Steel line is going to make me bankrupt soon LOL.....gorgeous works as ever. XX
Gorgeous colours!
