**GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**
I am nearing the end of English Paper Piecing my Rose Star quilt and that means it's time to start a new hand sewing project. I have been stashing away fabric for a special project for some time and will be using it to make Jen Kingwell's Green Tea and Sweet Beans pattern.
It began with some vintage prints my cousin (love you Jackie!) gave me and then I discovered 1930's reproduction prints, which I adore. I picked up some modern prints that I think work with that style and create more interest. I ended up with a rainbow of colours.
Once I knew I would be making that pattern I got some blender / neutral fabrics too.
The colours and styles feel very 'me', eclectic and happy. There's definitely other themes here too; florals, spots, checks, geometric shapes and a lot of small prints.
I'm making a start, I've chosen my fabrics and am ready to sew.
The Fat Quarter Shop are kindly offering a $50 gift certificate for me to give away so you can choose some fabric of your own!

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 431 of 431I don't look for specific themes and my taste seems to run the gamut; but I do seem to fall for every bird or elephant print!
i like the 1930s reproduction and any animals the elderly in rest homes love the 1930s fabric because they are reminded of feed sack fabric when they were young. when i take these charity quilts to them i hear the most beautiful stories of growing up in the depression era. kids love the donated quilts with animals.
i am already a happy follower
I like geometric prints and some fun color combo catches my eye as well.
I finally hit the follow button (bloglovin) not only for second chance (lol) but because everytime I visit there is something I like.
I signed up for your emails.
I don't really have themes but choose by color hues. I love certain fabrics because of the colors not so much the prints!
I have so many "feature" prints, that I find myself searching for coordinating blenders/tone-on-tone fabrics lately... I've got to admit, I'm a sucker for an awesome selvedge, too, though, and will dig through FQs to make sure I get one with a selvedge. :)
I follow you via Feedspot and spy on your Flickr, too. :)

I tend to be attracted to floral fabrics, all different scales. Often I buy fabrics I love simply because of the color, even if I don't have a project in mind. And I d love the vintage reproduction fabrics as well.

I shared on IG too.
I always go to the blues but themes seem to run more geometric prints. I rarely go floral except I still covet Bonnie and Camille Scrumptious so ...so who the heck knows. lol

I pick fabric if I like it, it looks like fun, or makes me smile. But then again, most fabric does. kthurn@bektel.com

Themes really depend on how I'm feeling that day or how I want a certain craft of project to feel. If I am making something in particular for someone I always fit it to their personality.

I buy whatever I like at the time, then try to pull it all together. If I have a specific project in mind( or in progress) I might buy something to match that. I'm trying to use my stash up at the moment and not buy anything!
Great giveaway btw! I follow with GFC

Generally it's what catches my eye or if I have a certain project in mind. I'm obsessed with 30s repros though and will collect those with wild abandon :)
Fab giveaway. Those fabric picks look great too. I don't really have a system when I'm picking fabrics. For big projects I've sometime found a nice bundle with a colour/ style I like, then I've added bits and pieces I think will compliment it, sometime adding another colour when I think I needs more zing. The binding tends to be the last thing I remember to shop for, as I like to see the quilt finished first. Other times I choose a colour scheme and work from there - I love going over to hawthorne fabric for their colour search tool to browse for this!

I love the 30's prints and usually use these for quilts, however I admire all modern quilts and want to get into that. I am new to your blog and love it!! karenblambert1@gmail.com
