**GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**
I am nearing the end of English Paper Piecing my Rose Star quilt and that means it's time to start a new hand sewing project. I have been stashing away fabric for a special project for some time and will be using it to make Jen Kingwell's Green Tea and Sweet Beans pattern.
It began with some vintage prints my cousin (love you Jackie!) gave me and then I discovered 1930's reproduction prints, which I adore. I picked up some modern prints that I think work with that style and create more interest. I ended up with a rainbow of colours.
Once I knew I would be making that pattern I got some blender / neutral fabrics too.
The colours and styles feel very 'me', eclectic and happy. There's definitely other themes here too; florals, spots, checks, geometric shapes and a lot of small prints.
I'm making a start, I've chosen my fabrics and am ready to sew.
The Fat Quarter Shop are kindly offering a $50 gift certificate for me to give away so you can choose some fabric of your own!
**GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**

I love geometric prints and small florals and these are my two main staples when I'm fabric shopping.
I tend toward low volume or text and add a punch of color when looking. :). A more modern line is what I gravitate towards. A great

My choice of fabric depends on the project of course and who it is for - for my grandchildren at the moment - I choose animals for Tess, flowers and candy for Neve, Pirates big tractors and supermen for Luke, Cars and trucks for Bowen. For myself I am drawn to colours I see on the rack - love Kaffe Fassett type fabric designs.

These days I am picking up blenders with some interesting texture or depth, because my stash is pretty big. Having said that, if I see fabric with cute dogs or cats, or texty fabric, or pictures of tiny houses, I am always ready to add it to my cart.

I make a lot of kids' charity quilts for a kids chemo unit so I often look at a kid-themed print, a variety for ages 0-18. I also look for blenders to make the quilt special, especially dots.

I am drawn to Batik fabrics and that is what makes up the majority of my fabric stash. Other than the Batiks, it depends on the project I am working on. I recently bought Speedster fabrics by Riley Blake to make a baby boy quilt for my sister-in-law. Thank you and The Fat Quarter Shop for this giveaway, awesome :)

I am drawn to bright colors but if I had to chose a theme - I guess it is Halloween - that's my birthday & I love cute Halloween fabric.
When searching for fabrics I look for colors or prints that I am interested in for specific projects. Sometimes I look for light prints that make great backgrounds.

I don't usually buy whole ranges - too expensive and often include fabric designs I don't like. However I do buy for specific projects or when I see a particularly lovely/interesting fabric that I know will fit nicely into my stash. Great Giveaway!

I have to admit that when I go fabric shopping I usually go for the sale section first! After that I usually browse by colour and see if anything catches my eye. I've also been looking for boy suitable prints recently as with two girls of my own boyish prints are very lacking in my stash.
I follow via Blglovin. I believe that I was follower 667 on GFC too ;0)
When planning a project i am usually inspired by a bold print and then pick toning and contrasting prints with some solids. Then I look for a few cooler colours to give the eye somewhere to rest.
I love text prints but also very colourful boho style fabrics - except at Christmas when I get possessed by all fabrics red and white!

I tend to shop for specific designers or for fabrics to complete current or planned projects. I'm also a big fan of dots & stripes & other basic,/blender style fabrics. I'm also drawn to rainbow bundles with white backgrounds. It seems, by listing this that I do indeed want to buy ALL the fabrics but there's nothing wrong with that is there. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I'm drawn to cute prints, especially japanese ones. Generally when I'm searching I look through the modern collections and the new collections first.
I love cute novelties and so I tend to look for them the most. I'm trying to look at neutrals more, but I'm always drawn back to fabric that tells a story some how.
I have a weakness for western fabric cowboys and cowgirls:)
Thanks for the chance to win:)
I usually buy by color. If I am shopping without purpose, I try to buy something different from the fabrics in my stash, but I try to buy a variety--stripes, dots, zigzags, florals, etc. I don't buy many solids, as I've found I don't use them.
And I follow on Bloglovin. Thanks for the chance!
It depends who/what a project is for. I buy fabric only when I need it, so I buy what I think would look good with the pattern. I have bought fabric I don't like before, but I knew the person the quilt was for would love it. I have discovered I prefer smaller prints though.

This is a wonderful giveaway! Thank you. Hmm...what fabric themes do I look for when buying fabric? I think I mostly look for moods in the fabric. If I want a solemn quilt I look for solemn fabric. If I want a happy quilt I look for happy fabric. I do not favor fabric collections where they have the exact same print in a different color. I like a variety of prints in a quilt and will base my fabric selection off of variety and colors that match.

What a wonderful giveaway. I love 30's fabrics. I usually chose fabric according to who and what I am making the quilt for. I love brights, and pastels and florals. I really am drawn to the colors in the fabrics of Bonnie and Camille. I am following your blog via email and am posting this giveaway on IG. Thanks for the chance to win.
Wow...think your tastebuds in fabrics are related to my tastebuds! lol I love your choices! :) I tend to look for whatever fabrics I am going to use, by what the person I'm making a quilt for, likes. But my personal Stash has lots of colors & fun prints & florals....not alot of nuetrals or solids tho/
I also have been a follower thru GFC & now Bloglovin, for quite awhile. Looove your Blog! :)

I buy whatever makes me happy however; I'm really frugal so I usually pick up and pet a whole bunch, but then put a whole lot back and only purchase what I like enough to spend my money on.
I don't think I have a theme except not too many directionals. I seem to love all things Kansas Trouble and Sandy Gervais after that it would be something bright and fresh. I love fat quarter bundles on sale.

I don't have themes for fabric - and you are making wonder whether I should now. I usually want a collection - and hopefully it is generally me; unless I have a specific quilt colour scheme and then I try to find relevant fabric lines for that.
And I follow - no need to check ;)
And tweeted about it - I tagged you in it!
I love geometric patterns - They looks so nice in quilts when mixed with solids! Thanks for the great giveaway!
I pick fabric by deciding on a color then I chose the design. Thanks for the giveaway.

I don't look for themes usually unless I'm making a baby quilt. My fav go-to's recently have been "Boy Crazy" by Riley Blake and Michael Miller's "Backyard Baby" (although that's getting harder to find these days).
I don't really have a theme in mind when I'm choosing fabrics. I do though tend to choose bright, clean colors and I love using prints that make me smile.
I am not attracted to themes (except Christmas fabric - I love it) so much as color. I mainly choose fabrics by what color my project is. Thanks!

What a fab giveaway (and a brilliant selection that you've chosen for GTSB!). I have to confess to not really paying much attention to how i buy fabric - its been more about what i find pretty! - but recently I've been paying more attention to the blenders/stables for my fabric and then the feature fabric. Ultimately it's colour and then pattern I choose!
And I follow you on IG & Bloglovin :)

I'm looking for low volume themes these days and put them together with fabric from my stash. Thanks for the giveaway.
I tend to buy a lot of tone on tone and geometric prints, though I have got other things I like as well. I tend not to buy things with a lot of different colours or really crazy prints (and I nearly always avoid florals in general).

I definitely like a variety of things but in general I like small prints that read as solids and geometric prints.
Your question is so timely... I've been thinking about stash curation a lot lately, as my fabric budget has dwindled! I'm not sure about themes, but my old habit of buying what I like when I have the money, with no real plan, isn't working for me. I'm going to try to start focusing on either basics(for me this means solids, linen-blends, and chambray, along with spots, stripes, and plaids) in colors I love, or smaller pieces of feature fabrics that I love (30s repro, A few Japanese designers, and C&S, for example.) thanks for the opportunity to tether my thoughts on the topic, and win a start at implementing my new plan!
I love following along on Bloglovin'!
I like geometric type prints or blenders such as dots as they go with so many other fabrics! Thanks for the chance to win.

Lovely giveaway Lucy. Our budget right does not include anything but essentials basic :( However I do like small prints that read as texture but often I look for a particular colour to fill gaps in my stash.
