I just couldn't leave work this week without some Meadow by Leah Duncan, Art Gallery Fabrics. I got some Sprinkled Morning and Valley of Azure for my rose star quilt - her prints have the best names! I also picked up some hand quilting thread and between needles for quilting the vintage quilt. One of the best things (of many) about Patchfinders is that we cut fabric as small as 10cm x width of fabric and can go up in 5cm increments. It's so perfect for English Paper Piecing or any project when you need only a small amount of fabric. Obviously I only needed a little but I got 1/4m of each anyway! I really want to make a Staple Dress and I'm thinking of getting Geos Deep Marina because I love that print but am nervous it will be too bold - your thoughts please?

Yesterday I went to the Minerva Crafts Meet Up day (more about that tomorrow) and I couldn't resist getting these cute FQs - I think I was in a girly mood!

It's 18 years today since the bombing of Manchester city centre. No one was killed but I was working there that day (Saturday job, I was 16) and it was a horrendous experience. So grateful and thankful it wasn't worse and I'm very proud of my wonderful city!

Those Meadow fabrics are really pretty, you're right about the great names. Small eh? hmmm. I can't imagine what it must be like to be near a bombing, I'm glad you were alright.
I love the Russian Doll print and the pink alphabet as well. As for the dress, go for it! Be bold and try it out. If it doesn't suit your tastes once its been made, repurpose it into just a top of skirt or even scraps for another quilt.
Beautiful fabrics! I was in my 2nd year of Uni in Manchester when the bomb went off, I worked in a pub off St Anns Square, but fortunately I had gone home for Fathers Day/reading week, it made such a difference to Manchester, really changed the look and feel of the city! I can't imagine how scary it must have been for you! x
your fabrics are lovely. It is very frightening to get caught up in a bomb. Thank goodness you were ok.

I want to make dresses out of so many of her prints. I'd say yes, do it! I have things that qualify for Le Challenge but seem to have a hard time photographing and linking them on time :)

Love that the shop is willing to do those smaller cuts. Really good idea.
Fab fabric finds! My local fabric shop does cuts that small, but I wouldn't really want any of their quilting fabrics ;o) Their scrap bins are great for bags though (that's where all the other kinds of fabric is ;o) )
I've hoofed it away from too many bomb scares, but glad I was never caught in one (although my granny was almost killed in one in Belfast), glad you got through it okay!
Get the marina, it will be perfect for a staple dress!
