I've been working away at my rose star quilt. I thought I was done making blocks but I decided to add one more row (I can't help myself). I have 4 blocks left to make and will then start work on the border. It's been a while since you've seen a progress shot of the whole thing and not all sewn up so here you go:
Too busy to bother measuring it so you will just have to trust me when I say it is this big.
Here's the latest 2 blocks to start the last row:
Busy, busy finishing other projects but nothing beats coming back to this one and spending the evening English paper piecing. Ah even basting the shapes brings me joy, especially since I've got faster. I have a plan for the border and I think it might take a while so this will not get done this FAL quarter but I don't care. Loving every laid back stitch.

It looks fab and hooray for slow sewing!
Wow, it is stunning Lucy!
You've made some fab progress on the quilt, i love it, and good luck with the last row! :o)
even basting the shapes brings me joy,
LOL yes me too! I love this quilt, especially when it is seen against the light. I thought it was stained glass before i opened and enlarged the photo.
This is SO gorgeous. It's going to be the loveliest quilt ever :)
Best quilt ever. I can't believe how much work you've done on it!
Just beautiful x
The quilts you are churning out lately are just amazing. You're impressing me with each update!
Absolutely stunning!
So beautiful!!
Love this!!!
Beautiful! And so much work, well done
It's looking great, Lucy! Great job!
Looking fab so far :o)
It's gorgeous...and making me think about an EPP project I've let lie for a while.
Gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you do about the border. :-)
I agree, worth every stitch! Beautiful work. :)
Such a beautiful design and I love how that first photo looks like a stained-glass window! Great work!
Thank you for sharing your progress, your quilt has such a classic, timeless appeal. It is inspiring me to pick up my neglected EPP rose star (all three blocks, ha!).
Oh Lucy, it's divine!!
It's incredible! I just today ordered some die-cut diamonds so I can start my very first EPP project. I am soooo excited! Your quilt is an inspiration!
So very beautiful Lucy. I want to start one : )
I love it ! My poor effort has stalled for now but this beauty is making me think I should get back in there!
its so pretty. This is definitely on my quilting wish list. Do you make your own templates or did you buy them from somewhere? I agree with you that a bit of EPP (or embroidery for me at the moment) in the evenings is perfect!
beautiful, I am sure this is some weight as it rests on your knee as you sew.
It's gorgeous, cant wait to see what you do for the border.
Huge and fabulous, I am in awe of your perseverance, I couldn't make more than 2 before I got bored but this, this is really paying off!
yay for Lucy! This is so beautiful and you will love every rose every time you are snuggled under it!
Your quilt looks awesome. Thanks for the update. I like the way you've sprinkled in solids and used multiple fabrics in the background. Of all the beautiful star rose quilts I've seen on the internet, this is the one I like the most. I'm working on my first rose star block right now. The sewing is manageable but prepping the pieces was a bit tedious to say the least. I definitely plan to make a quilt but it's going to take me a while. That's great that you're still going with it. It looks really good.
Wow, it looks great - so much hand sewing. The colours all work well together too.
so beautiful! I really should work on mine some more :-/
Wow thats some dedication Lucy!
Fabulous! I bet you're feeling a sense of satisfaction. I love the star design, it looks quite complicated.
Teresa x
It's absolutely exquisite - I'm so glad you're enjoying the journey and not trying to rush to finish! Intrigued about what you're going to do as a border!
it's just so beautiful! I'm glad you're adding a bit more to it. who cares about how long it takes?! you are keeping this one, right?
Omg it is amazing! I bet you cannot wait to have a nap under it!
