There's been some happy dancing going on, partly because I've done a little productive sewing on projects I REALLY love and some secret sewing but here's what I can show you...
First up I have finally got the binding sewn on my feather quilt so just an epic amount of hand stitching it down and then I'll be able to show you the finish. I can tell you that the fusible wadding was amazing and I will definitely order more - it was still stuck while I sewed the binding and it's been through a lot since I have hand quilted it, constantly thrown it around and dragged it about! I can still feel a little stiffness so I will let you know what happens to that when I wash it. I'm madly in love with the Sun Print feathers I'm using for the binding (available here and here):
And after the initial hiccup of tracing the pattern the wrong way I've done some more needle turn applique. Now I will probably gasp in horror when I look at it in the future (you know when I've been doing it for the next thirty years) but for a first try I'm pretty happy with it and I had a lot of curves to do with those first pink/purple flowers. I am so thrilled I found Jan Patek's tutorials on YouTube, she explains things really well and is so entertaining - I've watched some of them a few times!
So a bit more to do on this one and then a couple more applique blocks to add to the butterfly quilt for my eldest daughter. I've had amazing butterfly blocks from my Bee A Brit Stingy mates and I will show you them all together when I get a chance.
Finally I did a happy dance tonight when I placed an order at the Fat Quarter Shop, they've got 30% off international shipping, so hurry and place your order it ends on the 6th. They've also got Bella Solids on sale (precuts, yardage and 108" wide - perfect for backings!) and 20% off the binding tool - one of my favourite notions! No codes required for discounts, they are applied automatically. So go shop and join the happy dancing!

Love that applique. And I am fascinated by fusible wadding .... off to investigate that.
I'm so pleased you mentioned fusible wadding, I have been wondering about it lately, for a small medallion quilt, which I am just about to start layering..
I shall check out the links you gave.
Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt.
That's the second time I've heard about fusible batting in a week, I think it's a sign!
Trying to resist the FQ sale...
Can't wait to see the finished quilt! And please don't tempt me... I do not need more fabric! :-)
Love the binding fabric. So fun!
Your projects are lovely, I hope you enjoy the quiet time sewing that binding.
excited to see the feathers!!!
it looks pretty amazing to me! love the fabrics and the pattern
Love your appliqué- I'm doing some relatively similar blocks at the minute but don't have the time or patience for hand sewing, so the seam allowances are glued under and I'm stitching them by machine with monofilament :)
Thanks for the link to Jan, I think I need to watch them all.
I am not surprised you've been dancing, you have lots to dance about!
Beautiful applique indeed xx
Can't wait to see your feathers quilt - perfect binding indeed! And you go on the applique! Looks awesome!
I can't wait to see the feathers!
Your appliqué looks great!
Feathers! Cannot wait to see it, love the appliqué! Just bought more yarn, was SO not supposed to, so no to fabric - but may check just in case...
I am so excited about the Feathers quilt! The binding is just perfect. Your applique looks wonderful!
So looking forward to your feather quilt. Can't believe I had a hand ( feather) in it ; ) Your appliqué looks lovely
Want to see the feathers and butterflies of course and great work on the applique! Looks like you are rocking that Lucy!
Can't wait to see the feather quilt!
I used fusible batting once years and years ago when I had no clue what I was doing and it was a nightmare. I'm sure it was all user error and probably the cheapest version available. I'll have to give it another shot. Can't wait to see the feathers all finished up!!
I'm so over basting with pinds - I so need this fusible batting! Your applique is AMAZING and I can't wait to see the feathers' quilt :)
