I ended last year and started this one just as I mean to go on.
On 30th Dec I stepped out with my honey. Our perceptive next door neighbour very kindly gave us a restaurant voucher as a Christmas present so that we could have a night out. Hubbie and I had a lovely meal while my mum babysat and even walking to and from the restaurant was just blissful. Spending time with the man I love (with and without the children around) is wonderful but I would like to spend more time this year with just him!
New Year's Eve we stayed in (though I was taxi for my mum and step dad), lit sparklers (outside) and danced to the Proclaimers.
On 1st Jan we all went to Formby and enjoyed some time on the beach - amazingly it stopped raining and blue skies appeared so we could have a lovely (if cold) afternoon looking for shells and bits of crab (yuck!). We then went to visit my amazing Nan, who filled the kids full of biscuits and chocolate. She's just as brilliant as a great-Nan!
I snuck in a little make too and finished the apple bib (pattern in Patchwork Please!) from my FAL list:

Love, family and sewing - sounds like a great recipe for a happy 2014!
Have you seen the Wishes Quilt Along? The Fat Quarter Shop is doing a monthly qal and asking for donations to their campaign for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Ha. I know exactly what you mean about the walk to and from the restaurant being blissful. What an awesome neighbor you have.
Sounds like a lovely time!!
Love, family and sewing - sounds perfect!
This sounds like a perfect couple of days. Genuine quality time with the ones you love, just can't be beat. You even managed to get in some sewing. I wish that 2014 continues exactly like this :-)
E xx
sounds like the best recipe for happiness ever.
Why am I thinking that a long while back we were discussing your neighbours? Is this the same neighbour? I am glad you are having such a lovely time with your family.
It looks like you had a fun time on the beach! And time with your 'other' half is time very well spent!
Sounds like the perfect resolution and the perfect start of the new year?
What a great way to spend the first day of the year :)
Is that the loud voiced neighbour?! I still smile at the memory of that blog post! Here's to a great 2014.
I see Lois is growing into that outfit :oD Glad you had a fun start to the year anyway, and hope you get your dates!
sounds perfect! Happy new year :-)

happy new year and all the best for 2014
:)
Happy New Year Lucy! I hope all your wishes come true this year! :)
You can't beat a walk on a windswept beach for clearing your head! Here's hoping that 2014 is a terrific year for you and your family xx
Ohh Formby is awesome, I think it's the time of year for the seals too, I can recommend going to see them- and the red squirrels in the pine trees there too.
Awesome post! I had hopes of spending the 31st/1st in the same way, but got sick and abandoned the plan. Who needs another year of illness in this house!?!? 2014 is our year of health and time together...as you said above.
I love love love your beach photos. They so perfectly capture an adventure and each of your little cuties. Super.
I love those photos of your little ones on the beach, especially the one with Lois walking in the oversized jacket. Short baby legs with oversized sleeves - too cute!!! :)
sounds good to me x hope you manage some time to-gether x
Your children look so joyful! You sound like you had a wonderful jumping for the new year, I hope that it continues to be such!
Wonderful pictures! I especially love the one of Lois running after Fred and Joan.
Isn't some quality time alone with the other half marvelous? We haven't managed a night out just the two of us in quite a while, despite having two restaurant vouchers burning holes in our pockets!
What great pictures Lucy, I can't believe how much Lois has grown!
Sounds like a blissfull couple of days. Lois is walking! Little cutie. I remember the photo you posted at New Year last year with a giant belly profile ;-)
having time to hold hands...that's what I miss the most. I need to get date night back in play I think. You have inspired me!
