for utter panic. The realisation you might need to go to plan B. Not everything is going to get made/sewn in time.
I'm embracing plan B. I'm going to do what I can and only what I want.
So this little project can go to hell!
If anyone managed to make this without getting glue everywhere and sticking their fingers together and actually made it work I doff my hat to you, you're a better crafter than I am. I will not attempt a small frame purse using oilcloth ever again.
After that annoying failure I relaxed by making an embroidered label for a commissioned baby quilt.
Ahh feeling better already, then on to some fun but necessary sewing last night - I will show you the results tomorrow...
And finally a bit of time spent back with my true love, hand quilting my feather bee quilt. Only two more feathers to outline and then on to the stems.
Now I feel jolly :)

Good on you Lucy.....sometimes we just need to give it away! I love your embroidery and hand quilting. Marie (mlismore@optusnet.com.au)
excellent plan! Enjoy :-D
Love your attitude and plan! I have also said no the Christmas cards this year, I have too little sanity left to write them. Sometimes we just have to give up on a useless project.
Sometimes it's the best decision to can something.
Kay- I never do Christmas cards, I consider them to be a big environmental waste that is essentially pointless. Plus they're always caked in glitter and we have a glitterphobe in the house so I can do without receiving them too, often I have to throw them away. How can they recycle them with all that glitter on anyway?
Sorry that was an aside, what I meant was, onwards and upwards Lucy ;)
as my hubby always says, you can only do what you can do
Oh, I don't like those frames either. Good that you found some peace with your hand quilting :-) Looking good!
Beautiful hand stitches Lucy. Your quilt will be such a treasure
I've always wondered how badly... er, well... I'd do at trying my hand at one of those cute little frame purses. I have a feeling that my experience would be quite similar to yours! Your quilt is coming along so nicely!
I'm feeling the panic and hopes the jolly comes soon!
I'm living Plan B!! There is always an ocean of difference between what I plan on doing and what actually happens! Both involve stitching, so that's good.
Thanks for the heads up on the oilcloth purse, I haven't tried that one yet! Glad you found your jolly anyway :o)
I was so delighted to read your post and sending that project from hell back to it! Its a great practice to work on what brings you joy! Sew on Sister!
I can't get through an oilcloth project without getting really frustrated. I love your feathers, and one day I really want to try feathers, I just haven't found the time yet.
Sounds like a frustrating day that got better. I cannot wait to see your feathers quilt. Di x
love your plan B. I've switched to a plan B a few days back and IT FEELS WONDERFUL!!!
I'm still sewing last minute gifts and I really just want to be working on my quilts. Oh well, soon... in the meantime I'll admire your wonderful feathers being hand quilted and cute stiched label. I'm curious what thread you use for your label stiching?
Yeah I used that frame for something else, and the Liberty hexies I used didn't fare much better! didn't
Why bother with something that's giving you the fits. I think you made a good call on the frame purse - I probably would abandon it too! The feathers are so beautiful and I can't wait for the eventual reveal of that one!
I might be on plan C, doing less and relaxing more, I am glad you are sorting out the priorities.
"Fiddly things" are not my forte either:( Sometimes Plan B works out better than Plan A ever would. Love your precious challenge...it reminded me that spending time with the kids is more important than sewing.
You made me laugh and yes that glue is a headache but easier than sewing it in! Love those feathers!
I so like you. A whole lot. Screw plan A. Stick to the hand quilting - remember this is supposed to be your fun, happy place!
glad to know not to attempt one of those!! I am at the point too where I have to finish one more thing and then all my other sewing makes are going out the window so i can actually enjoy Christmas :-)
Small frames are fiddly enough without the stiff oilcloth! Poor you! But great that you didn't let it put you off - go forth and create good stuff. Dying to see that feather quilt! Head down and stitch on!
Hey, I readjust my goals daily, lowering them, meaning less is going to get done, but done properly. Or whatever I enjoy or want to do. Glad you feel better about things now!
