I like the sound of silence. I don't get a lot of it and I've been thinking about quilting words with quotes/songs/titles relating to the word 'silent' - if you know any good ones let me know in a comment!
Fred likes the sound of Daddy arriving home (heart melting).
Joan likes the sound of fluttering fairies (I didn't mean imaginary ones but I'm not arguing with a tempestuous three year old and that is too cute and very descriptive).
Lois likes the sound the printer makes (seriously - my mum has lent me her printer - every time I use it she gets SO excited, hopefully one day she'll have a high paying career in technology!).
In other random have you seen Christa's new Quilt Along?

"Silent Night" is the first one that comes to mind! "Silence is Golden" - that's an oldie! The trees ARE pretty, aren't they!?
The sound of silence after a noisy shift at work is wonderful, I do like the crunching of autumn leaves under my boots though. My best sound is when the kettle boils for tea. I will make those trees, if I do not win the rulers I will pull up my socks and buy them.
Joan comes up with the best lines! The song that comes to mind is the Simon and Garfunkel one with 'the sound of silence' in the lyrics (too late here to think of the songs name though sorry! It might be called the sound of silence though?)
Ooh silence! I love it. I'm always going around shooshing everyone at home, LOL!! Thanks for mentioning my QAL :-)
Combine the two and quilt Silent Night into the tree hanging? Baby seems to like the sound of the sewing machine today :-)
I agree, silence, it's the best. My kids are 10 and 11 and they still listen for Daddy to come home. :)
babies are bonkers, aren't they?
"You have the right to remain silent" I'm not sure you'd want to put that on a quilt but it's good to have options.
'Ummmm silence' (said in my Homer Simpson voice!), nothing like it!
"Stop talking, you are driving me mental' is what I am usually thinking, and sometimes saying!!!
'High paying career in technology'? Hahahahahahaha, there so aren't any lol
What Jess said about the Sounds Of Silence
I have a very quiet home - my hubby and my college age daughter do not talk much, they are just quiet people. So I love when the grandkids come over. What a joyous bunch. Lots of noise, laughing, fighting, fussing and crying. I do like your idea of making the trees Autumn trees.
I am home alone on Mondays and rarely to I have any TV or music playing. I love the silent sounds of my house. My kitty sometimes talks to me, but other than the sound of my sewing machine, it's pretty quiet. I am afraid I have been sucked in to Christa's Tree QAL too. I wasn't going to, but then I found I own the ruler set. Who knew?
I love silence too - but I don't get much of it here in Indonesia - always noise!
The only song I can think of off the top of my head is Silence by Delerium: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PPC7s2_Qh8
I'm not sure the lyrics would be very useful though.
I so hope Lois doesn't become a printer repair person...now that would be random. The tree quilt would make a lovely Christmas or Autumn hanging.
The sound of fluttering fairies would be nice :)
I very much love to quilt and hang out in silence, the noise of the day is so tiring. Although I love it, it is nice to have it turned off. Some songs are The Sounds of Silence (Simon and Garfunkle), Easy Silence (Dixie Chicks), Silence is Golden ( Frankie Valley the Four Seasons a 1960's pop band), and that is all I have.
