I'm going to start with a quick rant and I will end on a much more postive note I promise!
I am not a hater of technology but WHY OH WHY must people walking down the street talking on phones feel the need to share their part of the conversation with everyone around them. Do I need to hear the details of your life? no. Worst of all though is being subjected to these people effing and blinding in their booming voices. Please be quieter and please don't swear. I was only with the baby at the time so I wasn't worried about the kids hearing - I didn't want to hear it!! Although I nearly got in a fight with a woman in a shop once when I asked her to stop swearing in front of my kids - funnily she was on her phone too!
Oh and these people are 'adults' not teenagers. I actually had a 'yout' apologise for swearing in front of me at the park.
Clearly I am not one who hates swear words but there's a time and a place people! Not in public at the top of your lungs.
I seriously hope I raise my children to be more considerate of those around them, more private about their personal business and obviously more polite than to swear like sailors in front of all and sundry.
Rant over... let's get to all the good stuff...
When people find out you sew you suddenly get given lovely fabrics by well meaning people.
My mum's friend passed on this lovely stash:
There's some towelling, velour, curtain fabric, cheesecloth and gorgeous 70s type shiny fabric!
What will become of these I have no idea. But I will be having fun thinking up ways to use them.
The mustard linen would make an awesome backing for some cross stitch!
An arrival of supplies from The Village Haberdashery - always such fabulous service!
A gold post box with Lois posing in front - I took this picture in January but it must be something to do with the Queen's jubilee because someone won an Olympic medal (thanks Kerry!!):
Lois in what was Fred's outfit - I LOVE it!!
Oh and how totally ace are these mittens?!
Let's see how much she's grown... (knees bent so she's pretty much off that mat!)
Fred's story:
He is four and this is phonetic, it reads 'the butterfly saw a man' - shame about the butfly!!
Finally a little message I saw on the main street where I live:
Ain't that the truth!
**reminder that Le Challenge theme will be announced tomorrow**

Ah, the gold postboxes were for the gold medal winners at the olympics- you must have had a gold medal winner come from your town!
You are spot on about the swearing so annoying rude i have heard a parent or two do it in the school playground !! Lois is the cutest munchkin eva!! x
Such sweet photos of Lois- she is getting big! Love the vintage fabrics And Fred's story is great! To think he is only four!
I love that ladybird dress! So cute and pretty!
I actually enjoyed your rant. I have felt the same way for a long time. Even though I have been known to swear like a sailor, it has always been in the privacy of my own home and not in public for everyone to hear. I hope we can both manage to raise our kids to be more aware and considerate :)
I hate to hear swearing - it makes me cringe. There are so many words in the English language and they resort to them. That is my rant over too! Di x
I agree about the phone users - they seem completely oblivious of other people or their surroundings. not only in the street - on trains, in restaurants...Your fabrics are lovely. I'll look forward to seeing what you make :)
I completely agree with you on the swearing. It can be really bad here - good for you for saying something! Oh, and your little Lois is just such a doll!!!
I've been in a few airports lately. The LOUD self important phone calls around me make me crazy! Love Lois's outfit.
I can totally understand your point of view - it's just not on. Lois is a real cutie - I dressed my little girl in her brothers hand me down babygros too - my favourite were the ones with tiny bugs and snails. ;-0
I went to the bank the other week and walking up the high street in the village there were some road workers effing and jeffing at the top of their voices. I actually thought what about people with children and older people and well people in general that don't want to hear all that language. I couldn't even tell them to shut up as they were yards away from me and I doubt my voice could carry that far!
Worse than people swearing loudly down their phones are those who collect their children from school with their phone attached firmly to their ear and are too busy yabbing to even acknowledge their child, let alone speak to them!
I love Lois' outfit too, I hate the boy/girl stereotyping the high street impose on us.
And as for that fabric, pretty groovy! I think it would make some great kids clothes! The mustard velvet would make fab trousers! I have some PDFs I can send your way if interested.
Quite right too, I swear like a sailor, but not in front of people i don't know, kids, or in public! Some fab pictures, and I love the butfly, you have to keep it, Fred will be appalled when he's a teenager- which will be most entertaining! :o)
Oh I get that when I am on the park and ride bus: its like people think they are in their own little bubble and no-one can hear them! And don't even start me on the people who just sit there and sniff loudly for 15 mins....!!
Lois is looking so big now - and gorgeous, obviously!
Obnoxiously loud swearing really annoys me, whether in your own home or not. There were a couple of people in my halls last year who would come back drunk at least 3 times a week swearing at the tops of their lungs, although once there was a genuinely good reason and that time I could cope with it :)
Ohh, I take the park and ride to work so thats about 40 minutes of being a prisoner on the bus listening to the phone conversations. One guy told all his medical tests to his wife, then I heard the exact thing as he told his mom. I wish I had the courage (like some riders) to ask them to be quiet...
Lois is getting so cute - love the ladybug dress :)
Why do they speak so loudly? I was once on a bus when a girl rang a guy on speaker phone so her friend ( and everyone on the bus) could listen. She asked him to go to a party with her and he turned her down in a pretty harsh way. I was so embarrassed for her but I mean really, why would you make a phone call like that in public. I love your fabulous groovy fabrics!
Lol, love your random!
Oh the cuteness! Lois is adorable!!
Loving your little guys drawing and writing - impressive!
Great randomness! Lois is just too cute. I wonder where the "butfly" hangs out in my neighborhood--I'm sure we must have some around here somewhere. Enjoyed your rant this week.
Gorgeous photo of Lois in Fred's orange outfit (and I love the quilt she is lying on!)!

Oh the possibilities with that vintage fabric! Lucky you! I hear you about the cell phone lack of etiquette.
Love this! Love, love, love it all, especially baby L :-D
