Only the smallest of finishes this week. I made another star based on Blonde Designs tutorial (let's ignore the fact I said no more decorations!!). This time, since I find it more comfortable sitting with my feet up, I decided to english paper piece this one. I cut out the five shapes of the template twice, pieced the stars and then sewed them together. This star is slightly larger than the others but, to be totally honest, her method is way faster and easier.
I also finished up two more rose stars recently - here's block 27 and 28:
Last night I also did a bit of stitching, which was just so relaxing and fun. I used some Summersville (available here or here) and just embroidered whatever bits I fancied using perle thread. I know a few people have done this and I was totally inspired this summer after I saw the fantastic talents of Allegory and Susan. Mine was simpler but still effective I think:
This is on it's way to being made into a Christmas present.

Beautiful Lu! I adore that last rose star - the navy works brilliantly. Love your Summersville stitching, too x
I love both the Christmas star and the rose stars. Especially the second one. Those darker colors just sing. I haven't hardly done anything creative in like 2 weeks--my hands are itching to sew/knit/embroider, something... But my eyes are too tired at night to do it. :)
I love those stars, Lucy. I hadn't seen stitching on Summersville -- very cute! I want to get some to colour in.
Nice star and roses! And what fun UFO fabric. :D
Wow, you are up to 28 rose stars, I love watching the colours you will pick for each new one. The embroidery is fun too, the summerville just asks to be embroidered, doesn't it.
Those rose stars are gorgeous. I also like the embroidery on Summerville. That's a great idea.
No such thing as too many decorations!
Those rose stars look pretty!
Block 27 is totally amazing! I love it!
Your rose stars are coming along nicely! Great job!
I printed out the star pattern from the same tutorial, but haven't tried one yet - they look great! Nice projects all!
Glad you've been productive with your feet up ;o)
More Rose Stars!!! You surely have enough now!? The star is very pretty too!
I cannot believe how many rose stars you have done. Love these two. And I have those Christmas stars on my list of things to make for next year. Love your Summersville stitching. I like the way you just pick out the bits you want to. Kind of wish I had done that!
Your star is lovely Lucy. Lu summerville's pronts lend themselves to being embroidered so well. Thanks for linking up on my blog today. Cheers, Karen
I do like all these stars - you can't have too many decorations! I also love the rose stars and your embroidery is lovely :)
