«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 324 of 324One ponytail on one side of my head. I really hate it!!! But my mom love it, and every week she made me one. It was horrible to wear this ponytail, agh!! My friends thought the same too
Purple hot pants. Enough said.
Oh my goodness not only do I love those reds. I really enjoyed your binding tutorial. Binding is always a challenge to me. But the fashion diaster was definitly the fabric hair scrunchies for me...Lol I mad ehunddreds of those things. I had matchong ones for every outfit I owned I wore those things till the mid 1990's...Yes I thought they were cool and looked good in my long hair...I now know I was very wrong...

My worst fashion disaster was in 1979. We lived in a small Idaho town. I was 25 and I had just had my second child. My hair was limp, and I needed a body perm so I would not have to take much time with my hair in the mornings. So I made a hair appointment.
The first sign of trouble was when I arrived at the only hairdresser in town and the ladies there were all about 100 years old. They set about to work, after I told them I needed a body perm. What resulted was a Beehive-like hairdo that shocked me. I drove home, all of a mile, and prayed no one saw me. Before I even let hubby know I was home, I went straight into the shower and washed my hair. I still had a very curly mess to deal with for several months, but at least it wasn't a beehive!!
Sorry this won't give you a laugh, but I remember having pink high tops and I needed new laces so I put red laces in them. My mom always told me the colors clash, but it was the only laces I had. As soon as i got on the bus I saw the kids pointing out my shoes. Funny how my BFF & I LOVE red and pink together, it's Valentines!! Our favorite. So I think the only time I like red is with pink.

How about wearing a Nehru jacket?!?! Though I thought it was pretty cool at the time. Then the were all those pants suits with tunics that my mommade for me. (She made the Nehru jacket too). My mom made pants suits in both cottons and (gag) polyester double knits!
And I love red fabrics!

a one-piece blue gym uniform that was required :P I love red! Thanks for the great giveaway! Merry Christmas!
Hi, I am a new follower and love your giveaway. Thank You.
I was just looking at some pictures from my school days- apparently my favorite thing was this pair of black and white vertical strip stirrup leggings with three pairs of brightly colored socks and a bedazzled red ball cap. Pretty scary.
One time I wore a turtleneck to school that was on backward (it had a small monogram design). SO when a friend noticed and pointed it out (about mid-day) I went to restroom and turn it around. Then I came out of RR and was informed that now I had boobs on my back. Although embarassing, we laughed so hard.
Ok, not so much fashion - when I was 9, my mom got tired of taking care of my tangled hair, so she had it cut off. Like, a shingle bob. Worst. Haircut. Ever. It took years to grow it out properly.
I follow too! Thanks for the chance! Merry Christmas.
Sewing in school, LOL.
I wanted to make a top and bottom in blue and brown, my teacher said those two colors did not go together (little did she know then),early 70's, so I did them in purple and lime green. WOW
Thank You
sorry, grandmawillcox(at)zoominternet(dot)net
I had to do chores before I went to school. One day I arrived at school with my apron on. I was mortified. I hid it under my coat in the cloak room.
lol, A fashion disaster from school days. My mother used to dress me in plaid pants, a striped shirt, and put my hair in ponytails on each side of my head.
I am really giving my age away when I tell you that for a few years part of my boarding school uniform was thick navy knickers, they had longish legs with a little pocket for a hankie EWWHH. I never used it. Many years later I bought some silk french knickers which also had a pocket, not for a hankie, I never used that pocket either.
Shoulder pads!! in those extra long blouses over leggings. But at least my butt was tiny then!!
I think those "jumpsuits" I was fond of in junior high in the 1970s qualify as disastrous! audiodropzone(at)gmail(dot)com
Leg warmers, but they were really cool then, and right now in some places too :)
large eyeglasses - i shutter when I look at those photos
oh I wore the schrunchies, too and too much hair spray.
Huge scary glasses!! Thanks for the giveaway!
i dyed my hair once!!!!

Clearly we're in the same era - I liked to tight roll the bottom of my jeans. Ugh.

Fashion Disaster? I don't think I've ever been in fashion.
Great giveaway
I used to have hair down past my waist and tied it up like Princess Leia from Star Wars.
I stalk you now.
Oh gosh!! I remember this pink dress I wore when I started high school. At the time it seemed ok;;;not!!
What great fabrics! Thanks for participating in the blog hop party.
Forgot to give my fashion faux pas: I went to a pajama party at a friend's house when in eighth grade and discovered that I'd forgotten my good shoes. I had brought a new dress to wear to school and had only high top sneakers for shoes. It was horrible! I spent the day very embarrassed but somehow survived the teasing. A week later the only one who remembered was me...and my sister who never forgot how ridiculous I looked.
Thanks again!

I remember back in 1968 I got the white Nancy Sinatra go-go boots and a fall (wig). Thought I was something. I look back on the pics now and I just laugh.
Mohair, big, fuzzy mohair sweators. Everybody cool worn them. I looked like a 2 ton tessie!Augh!
Does a purple mohawk count?

Some things are best forgotten. Have to like the 80's and the huge hair and pleated peach and tan plaid pants I had and thought were stylish at time.
Mine isn't so much a school disaster as a fashion disaster. Now you have to know I am getting on in years and my Mum had me when she was 40 so you may get the drift of this. I was a bridesmaid with a shiny satin apricot dress, nice for the wedding, but my Mum then decided to alter it for me to wear at a party!!!! OMG I cringe now just thinking about it, everyone was laughing at my altered dress, it just was not the right thing for a party... Opps x
That was the funniest reading all week! I shall have to return and catch the new ones. As for me, when I was a kid, you only had one pair of shoes at a time. You bought them a size larger and wore them until they just wouldn't fit or wore out. Usually they were plain oxfords but I really wanted a pair of penny loafers so badly. My folks wouldn't let me have them so I saved all my babysitting money ... 25 cents an hour ... and paid for them myself. They lasted just one week! fell apart and I heard "told-you-so" forever from my folks.
Sporting a boy's haircut...

Mine would have to be the highlighter coloured sweatshirts & matching trackpants that my Mum used to dress me in. T.r.a.g.i.c!!
LOL

Thanks for sharing :)
I think the bubble perm I had at the age of 14 is probably my bigest fashion disaster!
I follow on GFC - thanks for the great giveaway
fashion disaster- I was a small child and could still wear age 4 dresses when I was 11. So the hotpants I got for my 8th birthday? My Mum made me wear 4 years on, when they were way out of style! Yuck!
the fashion disaster on others though? Ankle socks on 15 year olds- no way!
and , yes, I follow you! (you wouldn't have guessed that, now, would you? )
Frankly I honestly don't remember a "bad" fabric...what I remember is mom telling me (in high school) that I could have as much fabric as I wanted...as long as it was 77cents a yard or less(standard sale price back then!) and I could have as much as I wanted but I had to use it all before she would let me buy more (she paid!) talk about a threat!!! I did use every bit and about every other month, I'd have a trip to the fabric store and was in heaven! I had so many clothes.. I don't know why she never told me no, you have plenty of clothes, but she didnt and I never asked!
Thanks for the chance!

I always inherit my aunt´s shoes and they were awful (at least I thought so). I had to use them, no argument against that would do and I felt so ashamed going to school!

I used a hair product from Boots that said it removed dye, which I thought mean't my hair would go back to its natural colour, but it actually ended up with a few inches at the bottom auburn, the next few green and the top blond!

Fashion difficulties...well there was this pair of silver combat boots that were allegedly worn with silver tights and a silver skirt. Allegedly.
I follow along and read through my blogger updates :)
Oh my. Stirrup pants with long tunics. Total fashion disaster, but at least it was a comfortable one!
jennifer.ridd@gmail.com
It wasn't a fashion disaster then, but I groan when I think back. Saddle shoes, THICK cuffed white bobby socks, long full skirts that touched the tops of the socks, and 2 or 3 crinolines under it.
Red is my favourite fabric colour. Fashion disaster - bell bottom pants in a bright red, yellow and blue on beige floral pattern. And I made them!
I was so much of a tomboy that in the 80s I had a rat tail... which was still better than the cow lick and mushroom cut later in the decade.
Mine was letting a girlfriend who wanted to be a stylist cut my long hair in high school. Needless to say it was a complete and unfixable disaster. It stuck up on top and looked like Rod Stewart. Good Thing my hair grew really fast.
i follow with gfc
oh dear, I STILL wear scrunchies.

Fashion disaster-LOL- I wore a paper dress to school in the sixties that I had ordered from Seventeen magazine. it ripped.
I had a fabulous mullet type hairdo with permed curly bits on top. I thought it looks great and it was in fashion at the time.
How about wearing your tartan plaid skirt wrong-side out for 1/2 day of school. Humiliation I hated school. Nice fabric for the giveaway. Thanks

Oh the school portrait photo with my hairband across my forehead.
My fsshion disaster from my School days was cutting my fringe so short it looked silly and my mum made me go to town with it do fetch her something..... I still cut my fringe but never as short as that (hee hee)
do enter me in your lovely giveawayx

My school days are a long time ago but I do remember a pair of orange hot pants with bib that were all the rage. I thought they were great at the time but I have now 'lost' the photo of me wearing them. thanks for the give away.
I had skirts and slacks with matching vests (from the same fabric) and thought I was just looking wonderful. I cringe when I look at those pictures now.
Ok , picture this , men's work socks , the Gary ones with the red stripe at the top and all scrunched down wearing desert boots , we thought we were pretty cool but I am sure it looked ridiculous. Thanks for the chance .oh this was in the late 60's .
Came to me right away! I was trying to remove a stain from a skirt I'd made...and the acetone ate a hole through the fabric. I was able to finish the day though because it was close to the hem. Even if that hem was quite high.
thank you for the chance to win. how about leg warmers...yuck now but back then I was rockin them..lol
I remember the socks folded down & and pants folded so they were tight to your legs at the bottom - that was just weird... And yes I remember the hair scrunchies too - they never stayed in either... Thanks for a chance to win! :)
Fashion disaster?? Perms. Multiple perms at different times. Argh!
80's kids know well about disasters...
those shiny jumpsuits for example...

I still cringe when I think about my school wardrobe, any of it, no matter what year! One memorable item was a patchwork skirt with elastic waistband. I loved it but the older kids gave me such grief that I only wore it to school once. I did wear it around house though, and I really did like it. Just not right for school.
I remember the outfit that I wore every week on the day my mother went to work early... Otherwise she wouldn't have let me out of the house. Short skirt, knee socks, tennis shoes and a tight top... OH HOW HIDIOUS I MUST HAVE LOOKED!

for some reason, in grade 9, I decided to sweep all the hair over from one ear to the other and gel it down... believe me, whatever you are picturing, it was 10 times worse!

school days are so far away, but I remember in sewing class we made beach coverups out of two towels, very fashion forward...NOT..LOL.. I did learn a lot in that class and I made skating outfits at least two a month.. very stylish..
In high school, I had a pink plaid maxi coat. It did keep me warm, but..... Thanks for the chance to win!

There was a time when I wore a single fingerless glove and thought I was really cool. And I had a Choose Life Tshirt.. Gosh I'd forgotten that..
I grew up in the 80s too, so...Side tied big t-shirts and scrunched socks!

Fashion disaster-- hard to narrow down to just one. Ok... remember {Mork and Mindy}. Yes, I wore a pair of purple overalls (they may even have been capri style) with rainbow suspenders. And it may even have coincided with my perm. OUCH!
Fashion disaster? despite having pin thin legs, and larger than average feet, I decided that wearing skin tight snake skin jeans and basket ball boots was a good look....! Not one person told me I looked like a golf wood club!
and I follow you, even if you brought back that horrific memory to me! LOL

Oh my goodness, your question made me remember a photo of me and my brother at SeaWorld when it first opened in the 70's and I'm wearing striped bell-bottom pants! (Oh and I made scrunchies in the 80's, too!) pbstrand@msn.com

I refused to wear anything fashionable on principle (not sure what prnciple, mind you) so I escaped most disasters. Except for my school uniform, which involved a pleated bottle green skirt and white knee-high socks. I still hate that shade of green.
And I follow you in my feed reader.
Oh gosh ~ you're kidding? I can barely remember those days. I tried to forget most back then. I never was one of those who followed the trends so that helped me not become a fashion disaster since so many of the trends tend to end up as disasters. lol All I can say is that when those toe socks became such a huge hit I never did like them. My Mom thought I should have some though. Come to think of it, maybe that's why I cannot stand anything between my toes to this day. LOL
I am already a follower of your blog, including being an email subscriber as well.
Back in my day we wore peddle pushers (capris) and thongs (flip flops). Not sure they were disasters but they sure had funny names. Nice fabrics you are giving away.
I got my hair permed as a kid (I am a guy)

My mom was never good at fashions, and she'd make us wear clothes from her sister who was 8 years older than us. Or she'd buy old fashioned clothes from the second hand store....:( Thanks for the giveaway.
In the 70's wrap around jean skirts were in style. I had one. I was a klutz, I tripped everyone saw everything as I fell the whole skirt flapped open exposing my whole backside. Good thing I was wearing granny panties. I am over it now.
Hey by the way I love red fabrics.
Sadly all of the fashion disasters I had (in the 80's of course) are coming back into style: legwarmers (Flashdance!), neon. I haven't yet seen those baggy balloon pants though LOL
My fashion disaster was in junior high. I insisted I HAD TO HAVE this pair of high-heeled tennis shoes...yes, high-heeled tennis shoes. I wore them one time, they hurt my feet and every one gawked at me. They promptly went into the black hole that was my closet, never to be worn again.

Such pretty fabric - I love red it give everything a pop. Thanks for the great giveaway..
I am from the 60's - so many fad things - super short mini skirts - hair so full of hair spray it would not move in a storm - so many more disaster.. what fun!!!
