I've been starting new projects... naughty me!! In fact there's so many things going on here that I can't even do my usual round up of everything because it would take too long, lots of it is secret and I have a little girl that will only let me on the computer for about 5 minutes!!
Quickly then...
Here's some playing with fabric and selvedges that I hope will turn into something very cool:
I also had some lovely fabric packages come in the post, so even more to play with :)
First up this gorgeous pile from Fresh Squeezed Fabrics (she even sent a cute badge with it!). I just adore those fizzy dots and that Kokka was a bargain! And as a heads up Randi is having a great sale on Madrona Road this week... be quick!
I also got this lovely FQ from Spoonflower, no idea what to do with it I just like it!!
The best bit of playing was this very morning though! The wonderful Rachel came over to give me a much needed crochet lesson. She's such great company and an excellent teacher. Very patient and was fabulous at playing with my little girl so I could complete my granny square!
Now take a look, I'm not even going to say which one is the beginner and which one was made by someone with 40 (yes 40??!! She started young!) years of experience. This is the start of my first granny blanket:
Rachel was so sweet and brought this fabulous yarn (is it yarn? wool? I don't even know!) for us to crochet with. She gave them me as a gift along with this beautiful crochet case and some crochet needles:
I just realised how nicely the inside matches the squares too!! I love the bright cheery case and look she even used cool variegated thread to match the rainbow. Thank you so much Rachel, I look forward to our next class ;)

mmm nice fabric, is that Spoonflower one by Rashida Coleman-Hale? Well done on your crochet attempt - I've given up trying!
Morning Lucy. That is one thing I could never figure out--crochet. Knitting yes. Enjoy your new hobby : )
Love the selvedges.... Can't wait to see what it turns in to. I also have 2 granny squares.... But that's as far as I got!
Bravo on the crochet! I failed miserably...made a bookmark!
Oh! Selvages! I can't wait to see what that is!
I'm so jealous of your granny squares. I can't crochet to save my life.
All looks and sounds like fun xxx
Look at you starting fresh :) I love a new project - it does the mojo good. Hope it's lifting yours!
Aaah, I'm so bad at crochet. I can knit all day long, but for some reason I just can't keep up with crochet. I love that spoonflower fabric. too cool!
Your selvages are fabulous! The crochet looks lovely.
Crochet is fun, Lucy is brilliant and I cannot wait for another play date with her!
And I am willing to come and play crochet with anyone! If there is a joyful 2 year old to play with too, that is just the cherry on top!
Lovely fabrics and that crochet case is fab. It'll make your crochet hobby even more fun.
Sounds like a lovely day with Rachel - love the granny squares and the hook case!
you are very naughty, but I love the selvedges and DS so i'll let you off this time ;-)
I've ordered from Randi before too, a couple of times, and she always sends a super cute little badge! I have one with a typewriter on it, and one with an old-fashioned camera. LOVE that!
Nice fabric and I am so envious of your crochet lessons as I would really like to be able to crochet. Di x
Looking forward to seeing what you're up to with those selveges!
Tut, fancy hauling mummy away from sharing all her goodies on the PC ;o)
Awesome score with all this fabric.
I absolutely adore the selvedge stitched together like that. I saw a girl with a tote bag like that and it looked awesome in person!
Ooo those selvedges look like the makings of something fun!
Loving the new fabrics, some really great choices there!
A great job on the crochet, hope that all continues to go well, both of them look very professional! =D
Love the selvedges and the crochet looks fab! Gorgeous colours that Rachel picked .
Welcome to the world of crochet! I love the FQ from Spoonflower - if you don't know what to do with it, I don't mind doing a swap!!
Loving the selvedges - can't wait to see what you're making with them!
Yay for learning to crochet! It's a lot of fun! Though I have to admit I don't do very much of it since I discovered quilting!
Lovely projects in the works! I loved that cloud fabric....I almost got it! Lovely.
Go for it with the crocheting , and don't worry, my friends looked just the same when they learnt!
Like the look of the selvedges and you sound just like me - yarn, wool? Thread weights? Completely clueless here.
If Rachel is half as mad as she seems you two must have had a ball!
Great crochet and just what are you up to!
