I have a little finish this week...
I bought a preggy dress (can't squeeze into anything anymore!!) and decided it was calling out for some embellishment. I chose this cute asian flower pattern from Doodle Stitching by Aimee Ray.
Love it! I'll be wearing this tomorrow to the festival of quilts - so you should be able to recognise me if you're going!
I've finished a little baby gift for my also pregnant friend Nat, who will be my partner in crime for the day at the festival, but since I want it to be a surprise for her here's just a peek:
I've been working on my friend's quilt for her baby boy. I've just got to put the binding on. I hand quilted it and loved every minute! Here's a shot of the hand quilting from the back:
Now onto some blocks.
First up the Tetris QAL block 5, I'm really sad this one's nearly over, I love playing along each week!
I made three of the pieced star blocks for the How Far Will You Go? QAL:
They went together really well but I goofed the orange one, I'm still not sure whether I can face unpicking and making it right. I'm actually thinking it won't be so bad in the grand scheme of the quilt and I'm more inclined to go with the thought that 'it's good enough'.
I will be adding this picture to the helpful and hilarious Flickr group When Sewing Goes Wrong created by Allegory.
I also didn't do too great with my Vintage Holiday QAL blocks - I won the pattern from the lovely Heidi at Fabric Mutt and have slightly different plans about what I'll be making but it's too much fun not to quilt-a-long! I did these blocks in a bit of a hurry so some of the corners got cut off with my not perfect seam allowance. Again I've decided 'it's not right but it's ok'.
Obviously if I'm making something as a gift or I have lots of time I can make things perfect but I've decided to sometimes give myself a bit of a break and just accept the okayness of a project!

Go sit down and have a cup of tea. You are doing too much and tiring me out! But what you are doing is really, really lovely.
Love your lovely embellishment on the dress. Very nice hand quilting, too!
Enjoy FoQ - and what an excuse to shop for baby fabric!
Great job! I love the orange block! And the two Christmas blocks, very nicely done!
Your blocks are fantastic and the embellishment of the dress is so fun!
So creative Lucy! I love it, and you'll look adorable.
Are you trying to show us all up! ? Well me anyway!
Love the dress - will be looking out for you. And love your blocks - particularly the orange/green one - I love blocks that go wrong the best!
I love everything you're working on. And I totally would be lazy and not pick out the block - in the grand scheme of things it gives the quilt character. :)
Lovely job on the dress :-) Have a great day at FoQ!
I agree with Susan! And Sarah! (Too tired to type my own comment *wink*)
Lucy I adore those how far will you go qal blocks. So awesome. Cheerful and perfect points. Awesomeness! The orange one is especially yummy!

Uber-cute dress! I love your blocks, I think you should leave the orange one as it still looks fab :-)
Those blocks look fantastic and the orange one is just fine
Aren't you supposed to be putting your feet up?
lovely makes, and I wish I had your energy!
enjoy the quilt show, wish I was going, but again, not this year! Rely on you to let us know how it goes!
Nice blocks, and lovely addition to the dress! So cute.
Whew, very productive missus!
I am sad it is coming to an end as well. Your star blocks are beautiful!!!
Hello Lucy
Great makeover ....a stitch or two and what do you have something personal and effective!!! Good one!
I'm about to crochet a few little leaves and flowers to cover up a split seam on my coolest top which I am not throwing away...no I'm not...makeover on its way!!! LOL
Keep well
Amanda
Your dress is lovely! Have a grand time at the FoQs!!
Oh how cute, both you being too fat er I mean "round", and the little outfit. I just love hearing about it.
Lovely embellishment to the dress! Your pieced star points matced perfectly. i'd pretend I'm Amish when I've realised I've pieced wrongly and just leave the block as such - love the orange and christmas blocks!
Have fun at the FoQ!
Such cute flowers! Hope you have fun at the festival.
You've been really busy with all those other projects! =D
I love the orange block. I need to check out that Flickr group...
Your dress looks great with the embroidery down the front! I am sure you will look darling.
I can't wait to see how the quilt is turning out. I love the polka dot fabric you used for the back.
Your pieced together stars are FANTASTIC! I love the ornaments, too! I have been wanting to try that.
Have fun at the festival of quilts!
Awesome work, I love those star blocks! I wouldn't unpick the orange one.
The stars are really lovely and the ornaments are getting to me. I think when I get home to the right colour fabrics I am going to have to make that pattern too. I hope you have fun at the festival.
All gorgeous! Have a fab day out at the FoQ with Nat!
Um, wow. WOW! You're totally flying it! Loving the little embroidery - it's just adorable. And the blocks are yummy!
Cute dress, wish I could have made it to foq to see you in it, bet you look adorable (as well as intelligent, sexy and sophisticated of course!)
I miss being pregnant like a hole in the head haha!
Ok now I understand everyone comments at the FoQ re: embroidery! We love the baby present, so cute!
Very cute Peggy top. You will look darling!
