"Unless someone like you...cares a whole awful lot...nothing is going to get better...It's not." Dr Seuss
Yesterday we took the kids to see The Lorax... I couldn't believe how well behaved they were. They sat (nearly) still for the whole thing. Our little girl was bopping along to the songs (they are good!) and our son was enamored with the whole film.
When I got back I had an overwhelming urge to create a little homage as a reminder of the fun afternoon and the greatness that is Dr. Seuss.
The tree pattern is from Doodle Stitching by Aimee Ray and the lettering is from Sublime Stitching by Jenny Hart.
I had no such desire to create anything after the last time we took them to the cinema - we saw Ice Age 4 - if you've seen it you'll know what I mean and if you haven't, don't! I vow to never watch anything that's beyond a trilogy ever again (Die Hard is the exception to this rule!).
Over the weekend the kids had more fun choosing a toy to make from this book:
Unsurprisingly she chose Pinkie and the boy chose a tadpole! I should point out that this tadpole pattern includes legs but he decided real ones didn't have legs and so didn't want them. I was too tired to argue.
Today I have mostly been wondering when the day will come that I am able to drink a cup of coffee that hasn't gone cold.

Love the cute dolls book... The embroidery is lovely!
The tadpole is very scarey! An I'd say, with another one on the way, you stand no chance with the hot coffee!

Hmmm, yeah. Ice Age 4. We saw it last week and I didn't love it. It had its funny moments, but Ice Age 3 will remain my favourite and I don't know if I'd be able to sit through #4 again.
Would love to see The Lorax though! It's out of theatres here already but I should check if it's out on DVD. We're about due for a family movie night!
Never, learn to like it cold or microwave it!
Lucy! I LOVE THIS! I want one...seriously. My favorite Dr.Seuss line is be who you are and say what you mean because the people who care don't matter and the people who matter don't care.
I'm waiting for the day when I can finish a thought without interruption!
Cute wee embroidery and love your new plushies :o)
THe embroidery is absolutely perfect!!! So lovely! I can't watch animated movies anymore - way too many Disney films when my girls were little!
Your embroidery is beautiful :-) Start puttin ice in your coffee, then its not coffee gone cold, its a frappachino... lol
LOVE the embroidery!!! Absolutely spot-on!
I adore your embroidery! The toys are really, really cute but I think the tadpole is staring at me and trying to invade my mind...
Love the embroidery! There will come a time when the coffee is hot.... maybe just not in the next 15 or so years!
You could wait a long time for that not so cold coffee!
Nice makes!
Loving the embroidery! I'm so glad I watched the Lorax film I totally loved it, the trees were so gorgeous!
Such adorable toys...and tadpoles really shouldn't have legs =D
Lovely the embroidery - beautiful stitching as usual! Those plushies are super cute!!!

adorable, as always! you are one amazing stitcher! :)
my microwave should probably be renamed 'giant coffee reheater' since that is it's primary function! :)
Such beautiful embroidery!
Oh Lucy, that tree is adorable! What lucky kids too. You must have more energy than I did when I was pregnant.
Your stitching is amazing! Well done.
What a great idea having the little people choose projects. Love it!
Fabulous embroidery Lucy! You are just so clever at that girl. Have you a little embroidery to welcome your new addition into the world? Does that come after the quilt?

Isn't that movie wonderful? We loved it! Your embroidery is beautiful, Lucy! Wow! Hang in there -- the day will come when you can drink your coffee tepid. :)
Gorgeous embroidery - we have no chance of seeing the Lorax at the cinema, I don't have that much patience ;-)
Very cute toys that the kids have made. Once again, I am in awe of your embroidery skills: it looks fantastic
Your stitching is lovely - I'm completely in love with that tree!
And I think DieHard is the exception to every rule... :-)
