I'm so happy I got this one done, I finished hand sewing the binding this afternoon! Here's my finished Pezzy quilt:
I went with straight line quilting and did the odd line 1/4" away from the regular spaced ones. I think this makes it a little more interesting
The backing fabric is an old curtain my mum had saved, it was in our playroom when we were little so it has good memories :)
The pattern is By SunFlower quilts and you can get it here. I left off the border and used Bella Solid in Steel for the binding.
My other finish is a first that I've been wanting to try for ages - I made cushions!! Ok I didn't actually make the whole thing - the beautiful Hometown blocks were made by the talented and wonderful Heather at Crafting... I won them in her giveaway in January (hanging my head in shame that it's taken me this long to make them into cushions!!). Partially I think I was so worried I'd ruin them since I've never made cushions and I so adore her blocks!
For the back I used Empire Weave in Dandelion, Heirloom by Joel Dewberry - it goes really nicely! I used this easy and adaptable tutorial by Julie Herman and now don't even know why I was so nervous. It was super simple and I'm thrilled with the results. Thank you Heather for making my house that much prettier :)
Don't they just look stunning on the rocking chair?! My husband had this custom made for me when I was pregnant with our son. I love this chair and my new cushions.
I've joined in with the Retro Flower QAL
Here are my fabric picks:
My scrummy DS fabrics, huge thanks to Deborah once again and the lovely addition from Susan :)
I'm not sure I have quite enough so I might need to add in some solids but whatever I decide I'm sure I'm going to love it!
I'm also planning on getting some embroidery done and maybe adding more hoops to my kids rooms, so of course I needed these:
I ordered these hoops, made in Great Britain, from Sew And So, they arrived well packaged and quickly - wonderful! I am SO hooked on cute embroidery patterns thanks to Sublime Stitching!
Finally I spontaneously decided to cut my hair the other day, hence the new profile picture. I dyed it and then cut myself a fringe (bangs for those in the US)... I didn't cut my fringe, I cut a fringe!! I didn't do too badly for a first attempt considering I'm not a hairdresser, although I think I already need a trim!

Great new hairdo! Pez is looking fabulous too :-)
Look at you, looking so beautiful with your new colour and cut!
And how exciting to see those Hometown blocks, happily living on your chair over there in the UK!! Very fun for me, and I'm glad that it worked out for you. :)
I love you Pezzy quilt. The backing is perfectly matched and I like that it has good memories attached to it, too.
Great haircut, too! :)
The cushions look lovely! Those fabrics are perfect for the retro flower pattern too.
Love the quilt finish!!
I can't believe you've never made cushions before!!
Love the new hair! =D
Great haircut!!! I'm impressed by your hairdressing skills! Do you think it's to do with using scissors for other things?! Your cushions look great and the retro flowers fabric is lovely!! I wonder if I have any other DS I don't need ???
Pez quilt looks great and the backing is nice as it has a history. I so like making cushions and do like yours <3
You are very brave cutting your own hair.
Di xo
All wonderful!
I am bad enough at cutting my girls' fringes, they would probably do a better job than I could on myself - you look lovely xxx
I love your quilt! Your cushions look lovely too as do your "bangs"!!
The quilt is wonderful and so are the pillows. I think you are brave to cut your own hair, it looks lovely.
I love the curtain fabric you used for the back of your quilt. I like to do things like that too. Your cushions are fantastic and I love the fabrics of them and the new ones you chose for your new project. Embroidery...love doing it. I need to back to doing some too as soon as I get a few more projects out of the way. Nice hair cut. I have to cut hubbys hair and do an awful job at it. It is a talent I think and I don't have it but you do.
Brilliant job on your hair L! And your quilt is stunning! Cute cushions too! Jxo
Pezzy quilt looks great!
Great new look Lucy!
Love the Pez quilt and the cushions - looking forward to the curved piecing - love your fabric choice!
Oh I love it all! Your retro flowers will be gorgeous.
You're brave cutting your own hair, looks great though.
Your hair looks fabulous and I love your quilt and pillow.
Yay on the new 'do! I once cut a fringe -- it did not go so well. ;) Pez and those cushions look fabulous! Great job, Lucy!
congrats on your pezzy quilt finish! awesome quilting lines - they add great texture :) Thanks for the link to the cushion tute - this is something I'd like to try, too. I have leftover DP blocks that I'm planning to use. your new haircut & profile pic are looking fab! Thanks for linking up :)
I like the "extra" lines in the quilting and great job on your fringe too. I had to swear to my hair dresser i would never take scissors to my own hair again. I dont cut straight without a ruler and rotary blade.
I like bangs! I've been thinking about cutting some... I don't know how they would look on me. They're really hot on Zooey Deschanel.
Loving the new 'do!
Pezzy is just super fab. I think this is just a great line for a nice, bright, happy quilt. I love what you've done with it!
Oh have you joined retro too.....Love your choice in colors. And the hairdo is just grand! Do you want to come over and do mine?
great new hair do and a much more successful at home-dying than my laast attempt which resulted in a distinct electric tangerine effect!
Whew, that wore me out! Love the quilt and the cushions look fab. Great job on the new 'do too :o)
The pezzy quilt is a-mazing as are your gorgeous cushions. Love the rocking chair. What else? Ah - the fringe. Looks great and you are so brave. It could have gone horribly wrong but it didn`t!
Your Pezzy quilt is awesome, and I loved that you used a fabric with memories attached for the backing.
And you are a much braver woman than I am to cut your own bangs. Too reminiscent of doing that as a kid . . . and I'd hate for my kids to see me do it and try it themselves! The color is awesome, and you did a great job on the cut.
pezzy looks fab!!! love that backing perfect colours and the quilting is cute too! I would love to cut my own hair as it badly needs it and I hate the hairdressers! Great job on the cushions too very swish! Embroidery is addictive isn't it?? I will check out your link for Sew and so for hoops! Love the hair! x
Great quilt, great cushions and great hair. And what a thoughtful husband.
Gorgeous quilt and cushions! You are awfully brave cutting yourself a fringe, I had to shave all my boys hair off after a particuarly bad trimming ;-)
I LOVE pezzy! And the cushions are fab. Happy Easter sassy new hair'ed Lucy :-)
Your cushions are fabulous - well done! I see many more on your horizon! Love your Retro Flowers fabrics and your fringe! Oh, and Pezzy is wonderful!
Love your quilt and the new hair do!
Love those cushions. And the pez thing has worked well hasn't it.
I think you were brave to cut a fringe. I used to cut the kids hair, and still do my husbands, but my own? no thanks.
Hair looks good.
PS where do you get the 'like' button?
The quilt is gorgeous, and the cushions are brilliant for the first timers....new hair? Hey who needs hairdressers !!!
Lucy Lou....first I must say....you are so durn cute with your new hair-do {or as my kids would say hair-did}hee hee! Love your pez quilt. Bright and colorful, just like the candies! You cushions are wonderful and I love the rocker. My husband made the same Shaker Rocker for me when my Molly was born! I think I like the stain of yours much better tho. And the dresser is so nice behind the rocker...what a pretty house! Thanks for sharing, Lucy!
Love the quilt, backing is so sweet!
That pezzy quilt is so much fun! Love it and the quilting too, and the curtain fabric on the back--makes it that much more special. Your fabrics for the QAL are going to be so stunning, and you hair looks great. :o) Hope you had a happy Easter, Lucy!
xo
The Pez quilt is so awesome and I love your new do. I have cut my own fringe (haha, no one here would know what I was talking about if I said that!) before but not in years. The color looks great too. :)
Just saw your new profile picture. Love the hair! going to hairdresser tomorrow... I LOVE your cushions, beautiful colours!
Lucy, I love the hair! You are so brave, you are lucky it turned out nice. I love the pillows and that tutorial, is just what I need. You see I have never made a pillow and now I want to make one. You always inspire me. Pezzy is done, I like it most of all.
Oh the quilt is fabulous!! And I love those pillows too. Thank you so much for linking up! It's a beauty.

I love the grey binding on the Pezzy quilt. I've decided that on Team Aqua in term of the Pezzy prints. It's my favorite Pezzy color. Your pillows turned out so cute! That Empire Weave fabric is pretty amazing. And congrats on the new hairdo! Look so cute :-D
Oh I do love your Pezzy quilt! I've got a stack of Pez+solids just waiting. Hmmmm....
