The Pezzy quilt top is done!
I followed this pattern by SunFlower quilts.
As I was literally sitting at my machine about to sew on the borders I decided not to. I love it as it is. So I just turned it into binding instead.
I have an old curtain reading to use as backing but I'm afraid this might turn into one of those UFOs because I'm out of wadding. It'll get done eventually.
I also managed to finish my first attempt at embroidery. This is for my little girl (I'll have to get a frame or hoop to put in her room).
I used a pattern from Sublime Stitching and also read their excellent 'how-to' section to practice different stitches.
It's simple and I didn't add too much to the design, just the 'J' and the french knots on the pinafore. I love that it's not too cute and there's an edge of mean to the face! Like the little one when she's being grumpy ;)
I've a lot to learn and the back is an utter mess!! But oh well! On to the one for the boy :)
Linking up to TGIFF which is at the fabulous Quokka Quilts this week, finish it up Friday at the inspirational Crazy Mom Quilts and Love Affair With My Brother

cute things.... but pleas don't use a curtain for backing.... well I don't know what kind of curtain so I guess I spoke too soon...
what about turning your cute little embroidery into a pillow? I made an embroidery and decided on a mini pillow and my son adopted it right away. now he wants more pillows
Quilt top is awesome! Im digging out some embroidery to take with me tonight when I babysit my friends children, it will be a welcome releif from my two who are driving me up the wall!
Your Pezzy quilt is fabulous, Lucy! And the embroidery is super-cute, too. I'm sure it will look great in your daughter's room!
That little girl does look a little sassy! You did a great job. And your quilt top is very fresh and bright. Well done!

And I like the attitude your embroidery girl has. Much more true to life that way.

Pezzy is really eye catching. Never tried embroidery before. Is it hard?

Love the pezzy quilt top. I remember the days of not having any wadding....so I made sure I ordered 4 packs =D So useful!!
The embroidery is adorable!!
Your first attempt at embroidery is excellent. Perfect for your little girl's room. I love your idea to use it as a wallhanging. And I can't get enough of those pezzy prints. Super happy quilt!
Love your pezzy quilt! I just adore that embroidery you did, it really is just so sweet! Your stitching looks fab. Hey Pork Chop has a neat little on line stitching company as well. (Cha-Ching! don't you love shopping tips?!)
Cute Pezzy quilt Lucy! And the little grumpy cutie is adorable! Your daughter is going to love her!
The quilt turned out great. And the embroidery too. I haven't done much of that in years. Hand problems and a preference to use my sewing machine instead.
Oh my goodness Lucy, that is so adorable! That is the best "first embroidery" I have ever seen. Such neat and tidy and even stitches! And such a cute little girl..can't wait to see the boy. Who cares about the back?! :o) And I LOVE your pezzy quilt top!

The quilt looks great and I love that embroidery. You did such an awesome job! I did my first stitching (in soemthing like 16 years) the other day. Is it even possible that the back is not a mess ;-)
I love the Pezzy quilt! I just saw that fabric for the first time this week, and loved it, but wondered what I'd do with it. I think you answered that question for me!
The quilt top is beautiful, Lucy! Perfect pattern for that fabric. And I can't believe that was your first attempt at embroidery... fantastic!
