Yesterday I had a wonderful package!
The layer cake I won from Maureen Cracknell Handmade arrived!! Whoop whoop! Thanks so much to Maureen and Angie from The Little Fabric Shop for the giveaway :)
Tonight I will be hand stitching binding on my stars quilt:
I think I'm a hand sewing convert. As much as I like machine binding, hand sewing binding is so satisfying. I enjoyed sewing Dave's binding on for the first time and I'm going to do it whenever I have the time!
I'm also going to try again with the bee blessed blocks but it might have to wait until the weekend.
My daughter and I did achieve this today though (I drew round her little hands, she has to take credit for the rest!). It is now proudly displayed in our kitchen!
Also sometimes I light a candle. To think about the people I love. The ones who are with me and the ones who no longer are.
p.s. NO I am NOT a blinking robot and HATE having to prove it when I want to comment. sorry.

Great win there Lucy!
Looking forward to seeing your finish and artistic talent runs in the family I see!
Nice idea about the candle - may pinch that idea!
Hand-sewn binding is the best! I tried my hand once at machine binding and vowed never to to it again. It's kind of funny that I have the patience for hand sewing down the binding, but don't have the patience to make machine binding look right. :)
Love the fabric! Great colours. I don't know if I'm just not very good at sewing by hand, but I can never do it so that my thread is totally invisible... Also, I find hand sewing the binding on isn't as secure as machine sewing... Or maybe I'm just not doing it right. :-(
Congrats Lucy! Love that you light a candle....what a sweet person you are Lucy :)
i also hate having to type in a nonsense word to prove that i'm human. especially on blogs i visit all of the time. they should know me by now, right?
I'm a hand-sewing convert too! It's relaxing. I love children's artwork, and that is a fine piece you have there! Great sentiment regarding the candle, I may light a couple when I get home from work today :D
Have fun with the hand stitching, its the best way really... lol (my saying that has nothing to do with my inability to do machine binding neatly...)
I like hand sewing binding too - it's really my favorite part of quilting! Weird huh?
Cute art work. How old is your daughter?
P.S. I'm not a robot either. Bugs me too. :)
I also like hand sewing my binding. For me, it's like I'm finishing off the quilt with love, thinking of who I'm giving it to, or how I'd like to see it used and putting those love and thoughts into the quilt. Plus, I can do it in front of the TV at night with the hubs instead of in my sewing room alone! ;)
p.s. I, too, hate having to prove I'm not a robot!
I agree with Heather D- hand sewing the binding on is my favourite part too! It is like the exclamation mark at the end of a sentence! Lovely winnings- enjoy!
Great addition to the art gallery! Keep on winning there!
Congrats on winning. Beautiful! Not sure what the robot comment is all about, but sounds like someone (not you) should get a life!
Love the fabric as you know, love the picture and hand finishing the binding is the best!
I am obviously missing something about robots!?
Yay for happy mail! I found a great irony that one of my verification words the other day WAS robot and today I got prove lol
Oh yay! That is cute fabric. I'll be hand sewing some binding on tonight and tomorrow on two baby quilts. Wahoo! Of course only one of them is squared right now and I haven't exactly made the binding yet, but it'll be FIIIIIIIIINE ;-)
OMG - how many things have you won? You are so bleeping lucky it makes me sick. :P
I love hand-sewing the binding too. Infact, I'm yet to try a machine method. I just... can't. Maybe that's one of the many reasons I'm yet to make a big quilt. ;)
And... I can't ignore it... having issues with verification, are we? Mwahahahahaha, that made me laugh! So many times I've forgotten that last step and my comment has gone unpublished. Oh well.
Anyway I actually came here to grab your Fugly Party button so I'll shut up now...
Sounds like a wonderful day, Lucy! I will be borrowing your idea of lighting a candle. :)
