I mean REALLY last minute, not for Christmas but for tomorrow!!
It dawned on me I had nothing for the boy's teacher and teaching assistant so I set to work. I'm low on zips - 2 left and they're already bagsied. I also lack any felt to make cute ornaments or something. So I decided to make Jeni's lined drawstring bags using her wonderful tutorial! She has such great taste (vintage sheets and pyrex - yum!!), a lovely, positive attitude, a rabbit called George and a great blog called In Color Order. If you've not visited her (and I doubt that!!), you must.
These bags came together quickly, I needed to make two and I only used 4 fat quarters (and still had good scraps). I had to make the main exterior fabric 8.5" x 10.5", but what's 1/2" really?!
I filled it with some nice goodies - nail polish and a bit of Clarins (I really hope they NEVER read this but I get the stuff from a friend I used to work with - can't afford nice skincare anymore!!). Although I easily could have kept it for myself so passing it on is still very kind even if I didn't spend a lot!! I'm guessing they're going to get a lot of chocolate so I wanted to give them a different treat :)
I loved making them and am going to make one for my nephew and fill it with sweets, I also have 2 quilts to make for my nieces and 2 more zip pouches before Christmas. Then I am going to get very drunk ;)
I'm linking up to making rebecca lynne and seeing what you've all been doing this fine Thursday!!
Her posts are always great but this week it's especially wonderful and I would love for everyone to read her touching post today :)

sorry about the flash! Believe me these look much prettier in real life! |

As usual, you have made lovely, thoughtful gifts for these lucky teachers. Love the fabric you are using, it is really pretty.
Hey, nice drawstring bags!! And "bagsied", what a great word!! I'm curious what your zippers have been bagsied for?? ;-) I mentioned you in my blog post today, see if you can find it. ;-)
Go go go go go go go! I know you can do it Lucy! Just imagine your own pep squad over here in WNY!
Love the bags, Lucy! They'll be thrilled. What a fun gift. :o) That's quite a bit to do before Christmas but you can do it! Just listen to Rebecca cheering for you. And picture me doing the one-man wave for you in CA. ;)
You are doing so well Lucy!
Keep it up and you will get there!
Wonderful bags - I'd love those gifts if I were a teacher - much nicer than chocolates!
Gorgeous little bags!!! Perfect gift for a teacher...
Perfect gifts - I bet they loved them!!
Super cute bags, Lucy! I was really glad when we got a note sent home from preschool requesting no gifts for the teachers. But I will admit to being very nervous that I would still see every other child walking in with gifts! You crack me up with your "getting drunk" bit. We both know how little that takes!
You're sweet! Love how your bags turned out! :)
